If a decorative element shifts toward the wick or flame during use, extinguish the candle and remove it before relighting.

These candles are made using genuine oyster shells, not manufactured candle containers.

Each shell measures approximately 2–3+ inches, but exact dimensions will vary.

Natural oyster shells differ in:

• Length and width
• Depth
• Concavity
• Curvature
• Thickness
• Color and markings
• Ridges and grooves
• Edge shape
• Wax capacity

Some shells are considerably deeper and more concave and therefore naturally hold more wax.

Others may be wider, flatter, longer or more dramatically curved.

Natural markings, staining, ridges, irregular edges, worn areas, minor chips and other variations may be present.

These natural characteristics are not considered defects.

They are part of what makes every genuine oyster shell—and every Hearth & Tide candle—one of a kind.

Because shell size, depth and wax capacity vary, the amount of wax and approximate burn time will also vary from candle to candle.

⚠️ IMPORTANT: NATURAL SHELLS ARE CURVED

Unlike a manufactured candle jar, an oyster shell does not have a perfectly flat bottom.

Oyster shells are naturally curved and irregular and may rock, shift or tip if they are not properly stabilized before lighting.

ALWAYS stabilize your oyster candle before burning.

Place the shell securely on a flat, level, stable, heat-resistant and nonflammable surface or candle-safe dish.

Before lighting, gently check the shell to make sure it does not rock, slide or tip.

If the shell does not sit securely, do not light it until it has been properly stabilized on an appropriate candle-safe surface.

Never attempt to reposition or stabilize the shell while the candle is burning or while the wax is liquid.

🔥 CANDLE CARE & SAFETY

Trim the cotton wick to approximately ¼ inch before lighting.

Always burn within sight.

Never leave a burning candle unattended.

Keep away from children and pets.

Keep away from drafts, curtains, paper, decorations and other combustible materials.

Natural oyster shells can become HOT during use.

Never touch, pick up or move the shell while the candle is burning or while the wax remains liquid.

Never burn directly on furniture, fabric, wood or another heat-sensitive surface.

Discontinue use if the shell becomes cracked, unstable or excessively hot.

Stop burning before the flame reaches the bottom of the shell.

Never add fragrance oil, wax or other materials to a burning candle.

Decorative pearl accents are not edible.

If any decorative element becomes loose or shifts toward the wick or flame, extinguish the candle and remove the element before relighting.

📦 WARM-WEATHER SHIPPING

Soy wax is naturally heat sensitive.

During warmer months, Hearth & Tide candles are carefully packaged to help protect them during transit. Warm-weather orders may require insulated packaging and cooling materials.

We strongly recommend tracking your delivery and bringing your package indoors as soon as possible after arrival.

Please do not allow candle packages to remain in a hot mailbox, vehicle or on a sunny porch.

Shipping charges are based on order quantity, final packaged weight, destination and any warm-weather packaging required.

Because genuine oyster shells naturally vary in size and weight, shipping weights may vary between orders.

Large event orders may be divided between multiple shipping cartons when necessary to help protect the candles during transit.
